With Gran Canaria, there's no need to dream. A Seaside Palm Beach experience I will never forget

My name is Beatriz, I'm 27 years old and a few months ago I had the pleasure of a real experience staying at Seaside Palm Beach. 

When I get on a plane and head somewhere, I never know whether the trip might turn out to be the experience of a lifetime. There’s the excitement of the unknown, the confidence of knowing everything is organised, the security of being sure that the place will more than live up to everything I had imagined, and so much more. I may be used to travelling to hundreds of destinations, but it is still very stimulating to think about what the trip might bring me and the surprises I could find once I arrive.

Gran Canaria has something not many destinations do: as you come into land on the island you can already enjoy beautiful views from the sky – a small piece of land surrounded by thousands of shades of blue. I like to look out across the ocean, beginning to get the feeling that I'm going to have a good day. 

Getting off a plane is one of the most disconcerting sensations in life, knowing that just a few hours ago you were in another part of the world. Now, walking out of the plane door, it seems everything has changed, although in fact it hasn’t – you’re the one who’s different.  

My experience at Seaside Palm Beach

The journey from the airport to Seaside Palm Beach flies by in a whirl of enthusiasm at the prospect of enjoying time away from the helter-skelter of everyday life and the excitement of being part of experiences that will stay in your memory forever. 

The emotions and sensations you remember are always backed by careful planning. Staying at the hotel is like taking a break from the outside world or from your daily routine to connect with yourself, as you remain in your own little oasis even if it’s just for a short time. You enjoy living to the rhythm of that plan. There’s no stress – you just go with the flow, enjoying the chance to rest and the desire for this trip to join your most special memories. 

No-one demands higher standards of us than we do ourselves, and the people of the hotel have made this a kind of mantra. I couldn’t be treated any better, and there’s always a smile for me. That won’t end until I walk out the door and go back home.  

Maspalomas Dunes

Surrounded by the Maspalomas Dunes, the large Palm Beach hotel building is enveloped by ancient palm trees, which almost seem to know that their long trunks conceal something well worth discovering.  

The rooms are a truly peaceful haven – a perfect environment for lovers of calm surroundings. Featuring all kinds of luxurious details, they make a stay here the best possible experience, surrounded by the retro ‘70s style that marks the general character of the hotel. If we’re talking about relaxation, though, we really must mention the Spa & Wellness area, which has various options for pampering and taking care of yourself: body treatments; anti-stress massages, so effective in getting rid of the tension of the hustle and bustle of the daily routine; or, if you prefer, the sauna. 

Treatments at Seaside Palm Beach

I was able to try out one of those treatments at first hand – the one with volcanic stones – and I came out feeling like new. A gentle massage with tangerine oil to activate the body is alternated with the use of warm volcanic stones. I haven't been so much in harmony with myself for a long time. The treatment takes you right away from it all and helps you combat stress, while the service from the professionals is excellent, making you feel pampered at all times. 

Gastronomy in the hotel

If the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach, I’m that person! Each of the hotel's restaurants surrounds you with the typical flavours and smells of Gran Canaria, as the island's cuisine is the main inspiration for its culinary professionals. The main restaurant, Esencia, La Bodega, the Bar Africano... there are plenty of options offering you a lot of culinary experiences. The tuna tartare, beef carpaccio, the country-style omelette with chorizo and onions, and the local fish all set your tastebuds buzzing. 

Cool off in Gran Canaria: a swim on the beach or in the pool.

I don't know if it’s a common feeling, but I can’t live without setting foot on the sand several times a year. And, as a lover of this type of destination, having a beach a few metres from where I am going to stay is a very high priority. The sheer length of Maspalomas beach means everyone who visits has a place to enjoy the good weather so characteristic of the island without having to rush to claim a spot. 

The variety of pools is undoubtedly a great asset for Seaside Palm Beach because you can go from one to the other, starting with the one with the coldest water and ending with the smallest of all, which has salt water and is at the ideal temperature for anyone sensitive to chill, as well as being good for your skin. You come out of it rejuvenated and surrounded by sand from the beach – you don’t even have to leave the resort to enjoy that too.  

They say you’ll always want to go back to somewhere you’ve been happy – and that’s certainly true here. I’m looking forward to being able to repeat the wonderful experiences at the Seaside Palm Beach and continue discovering everything the amazing island of Gran Canaria has to offer.
