Because only seasonal produce is at our restaurant in Maspalomas, the menu changes every week, offering a selection of four courses. Diners can choose from a selection of four starters, four hors d’oeuvres, four different fish or meat main courses and a selection of desserts, or sample each dish separately.
Depending on the season, dinner at Esencia might feature an hors d’oeuvre of quail breast with couscous and Miso lime vinaigrette, a fillet of beef with olive polenta and vegetables, clams with lemongrass and coriander, and many other original creations.

Head chef Steffen Schenk has made his name on the Gran Canaria food scene for his inventive combinations of fresh local ingredients, which he sources on his regular trips to Vegueta market in Las Palmas. Reflective of the restaurant’s name – meaning “essence” in Spanish – the flavours of each ingredient in its purest state can be savoured in every dish.
As could be expected from one of the best restaurants in Maspalomas, Esencia is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. With wood panelled-walls, pastel textiles and contrasting black furniture, the chic interior was designed by Alberto Pinto to create the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or celebration.
